Glamping in Washington State

We are not a "roughing it" type of family. Neither my husband, nor I have never been camping, yet when I heard about glamping, I thought... well this could work! You mix the camping style with some more amenities, and I was sold. Sure enough, our glamping experience in Washington State was truly memorable.
On our road trip from Seattle towards Oregon, we stopped in various places for a few days. It was a kid free week and we made sure to relax, drink well and eat well. Our first stop outside of Seattle was to Washington's wine country in Yakima Valley. The drive was scenic and a welcomed change of pace to the cityscape.
We checked in to the Cherry Wood Bed and Breakfast which is located in Zillah, Washington (at the center of Yakima wine country). Washington is known for producing more red varietals, and I had never tried wine from this region, so I was very excited not only to glamp here, but also to check out the wineries nearby. The view below is from the main house when you enter the property.
So here is a summary of our glamping experience in Washington State. The accommodations include staying in a private teepee, which includes a Queen size bed and can accommodate two twin beds on the side for family or any extra guests. The interior is decorated beautifully and is spacious. It also included a mini-fridge and a private outhouse adjacent to your teepee (it was less than 10 steps away and did not smell at all).
There is no personal shower, there are open air showers! At first I was skeptical and hesitant, but it was a new experience and I stayed positive. The teepee does come with towels and flip flops to take with you (the shower was maybe a 2 minute walk from our teepee). It actually was fine and I enjoyed taking an outdoor shower looking up at the sky. Also, the decor was quite unique!
One of our favorite parts of the glamping experience was the outdoor area. Just outside of your private teepee there is a swing and a fire pit with a s'mores kit. We sat here after dinner and made s'mores for dessert, and then had our morning coffee on the swings looking out at the Washington countryside.
Speaking of the Washington countryside, the cherry groves on property were beautiful and since it was cherry picking season, we did take a few! We also visited a few wineries nearby and enjoyed tasting some Washington wine. Cherry Wood does have wine tour options available for purchase. There are horseback rides to the local wineries and you can even take a hay wagon tour and have lunch included. We did not opt for either, since we were there for such a short time.
The breakfast included in the price of the stay was exquisite. You can opt to eat inside the main house or on the outdoor terrace. We chose to eat outside and enjoyed the fresh squeezed juices, fresh pastries and donuts, and locally grown eggs/fruit.
Now, glamping was not cheap... It cost $285 with breakfast. There are extra packages that include various spa treatments, yet we went with the "budget option".
Overall, my glamping in Washington state was a success! Not only did I "kind of" camp, but I took an outdoor shower, made s'mores, and drank great wine! Glamping is something I sure could try again soon...

I've been real camping a lot but no glamping yet. I love being closer to the outdoors and a good bed does sound super appealing. I would love to go glamping in Washington sometime!
Teepee, Washington, s'mores and outdoor showers...take me there!
It looks fun to me but also looks like nothing id want! does that make sense? I hate camping SO much that glamping has no appeal, but the open air shower seems thrilling!
Teepee's, smores AND donuts?? Count me in! I think that's so cool, and I had no idea this kind of camping existed in the states! Great post!
Glamping is totally camping, you deserve credit for it! Sure, you had a bed, but otherwise it's camping. I'd love to be sitting outside around a fire making smores at night knowing that I had a comfy bed to retire to.
